My gourmet garden

A large bowl of fresh air, two spoonfuls of sunshine, three sweet smiles.

You can taste all the traditional gastronomic delicacies of the Béarn in the Vallée de Barétous : fattened poultry, magrets, confits, livers, charcuteries, vegetable hotpot, soups. Gourmets, food enthusiasts and those who love good produce can eat to your heart’s content !

(JPG) Our specialities are naturally related to country activities. Shepherds prepare and mature ewe’s cheeses in the summer pastures. There is also goat’s cheese and lamb. And taste all the produce that has been picked or hunted : honey, red fruits, woodpigeon salmi, etc. The produce can be taken away or eaten on site, accompanied by wine from the Jurançon or the Béarn.

A special mention should go to Barétous whortleberry. It grows wild and is picked in the mountains to be transformed into delicious homemade jam. It also figures in the cooking, where it accompanies ewe’s cheese, charcuterie and various kinds of foie gras. Eating well remains a tradition here.

Auberges, intimate restaurants and tables d’hôte that provide delicious meals for so many local people from the Béarn and the mountains, will welcome you throughout the valley, for the pleasure of your eyes, nose end tastebuds. Do not miss the Sunday market in Aramits, where you will find farm produce, organic vegetables, honey, jams, cheese and local craftwork.
